Damanhur is a self-sufficient Republic with its own Constitution, culture, art, music, currency, schools and uses of science and technology. Damanhur welcomes thousands of visitors annually to its campus who participate in tours, retreats and courses through Damanhur University. 

The heart of Damanhur is its Temples of Humankind, an extraordinary subterranean work of art and architecture. This “Eighth Wonder of The World” was entirely dug by hand into the mountain and is adorned with mosaics, stained glass, sculptures and other works of art. It is dedicated to awakening the divine spark present in every human being.

Damanhur was founded by Falco Tarassaco, nee Oberto Airaudi (1950-2013). Falco’s enlightened and pragmatic vision created a fertile reality based on solidarity, sharing and respect for the environment. Damanhur has been deemed an award-winning sustainable eco-community by the United Nations, and has captivated attention globally as a model society with a doorway into a new future for humanity.
